The Weatherization Skillshop is a statewide educational program created by the Central Vermont Community Action Council and funded through Vermont's Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, with the goal of helping Vermonters understand how to improve energy efficiency in their homes, and to address non-complex weatherization problems.
Central Vermont Community Action Council runs a low-income Weatherization program that is funded by state and federal dollars. Low-income Weatherization is available to Vermonters who meet a certain percentage of poverty level and is required for those households receiving federal fuel assistance (review the criteria). While low-income Weatherization funding has increased and major efforts are being made to reach out to every income-qualified Vermonter, there is an ever-increasing demand for improving energy efficiency in Vermont's housing stock across all income levels.
About Central Vermont Community Action Council
For over 40 years, the Central Vermont Community Action Council (CVCAC) has worked to alleviate the effects of poverty, to assist individuals and families to move out of poverty and to advocate for long-term system change for economic justice. CVCAC offers a wide range of programs and services to help low-income Vermonters, including help in starting a business or finding a job, help with taxes, help with childcare and food, and help with crisis fuel. Recipients of emergency fuel assistance program are asked to work with the Weatherization team to improve energy efficiency in their residential buildings and living spaces.
